The Official Vintage Guitar Price Guide 2008

Whether it was the hollowbody rumble of a Gibson on "Rock Around The Clock," the 12-string shimmer of a Rickenbacker on "The Ed Sullivan Show," or the howl of a Fender feeding back as the sun arose at Woodstock, there's no denying the impact of the guitar on modern culture.

Beyond reproach, the popularity of the guitar has placed the instrument front-and-center amongst collectible objects in our society; today, people of all professions, interests, and tastes collect guitars. And when it comes to assembling the most vital data in the ever-changing world of collectible guitars and gear, there is no better resource than The Official Vintage Guitar Price Guide 2008.

Published annually by Vintage Guitar magazine, The Guide not only includes historical data and market analysis, but presents true, carefully researched values on thousands of vintage and recent-model guitars, amps, basses, effects pedals, mandolins, lap steels, ukuleles, and banjos. The market for vintage gear constantly evolves, and The Guide will always be the most timely and detailed publication of its kind.

Combining a user-friendly format, a comprehensive index, and a dealer directory listing guitar sellers in every region of the country, The Guide includes information on 1,400 brands supplemented with more than 1,000 photos, along with an in-depth look at the factors that drive the collectible instrument market. Professional players, guitar dealers and collectors trust only one source for accurate values on vintage gear! Here's what some of them have to say about The Guide:

"When investing in art, the rule of thumb is, 'Buy what you love.' If you love old guitars, a great idea would be to put your money in at least one vintage instrument and a copy of the The Guide. The book will help you stay educated on the various aspects of the vintage market while the guitar will bring you joy, as you both play it and watch it appreciate in value over time. You can even hang it on the wall next to your Picasso." - Rick Vito, guitarist, Bob Seger, Fleetwood Mac

"The Guide has been essential to me since its inception. As a collector it was one of my main sources of education, and far from being just a price source, The Guide gives us invaluable facts regarding makes and models, model changes, colors, etc. It's the most important reference tool for all collectors and dealers alike." - David Brass, President, Fretted Americana, Inc.

"I started selling vintage guitars in 1968. Back then, there were no books or guides. Now the industry is blessed with The Official Vintage Guitar Price Guide, which delivers the inside track and pulse of the collectible-guitar market based on the knowledge of key players. With the 2008 edition, anyone can research all types of equipment and learn its value. You can't afford not to buy The Guide!" - Richard Friedman, We Buy Guitars

"As it turns out, my guitars and I become more vintage everyday. The VG Price Guide is the go-to book for buying, selling, or insuring instruments. I only hope I am accruing at the same rate as my guitars!" - Gordon Kennedy, guitarist/songwriter/producer

"As a dealer and a collector, The Guide is the only place I can go for values based on real sales and experiences of the best in the business! Gil and Alan have found the best way to keep the book precise and up-to-date! A must for the serious guitar lover!" - Mike Reeder, Mike's Music
